Nice spin, but you fail.
Bingo! Can’t wait for the spin on this one.
To answer your question. Greed.
A corollary to this question is, how can Democrats justify giving tax “refunds” to the huge number of lower income people who do not pay taxes? Something like 38% of the households in the US do not pay any federal income taxes. And what is a fair percentage for taxation? Statistics show that the vast majority of the world thinks that any taxation over 50% is excessive. Here in California, if you make $90,000 and you get a raise, you will pay 28% or 31% federal taxes, 9% or 10% state taxes, Social Security, Medicare taxes, and then the remainder of the raise will be taxed at 8% when you spend it for sales tax. We are already at 50%.
Your spin doesn’t work. How is keeping a little bit more of the money I earned redistribution? Now the raising of my taxes so one can take the money I earned to give to someone who didn’t earn anything, that is redistribution. You make absolutely no sense.
good point , thats similar to what robert reich said on the daily show. its socialism for the wealthy and nationalized profits but capitalism for the poor. i figured out that although they accuse dems of tax and spend, they dont mind spending as long as it doesnt help poor people. even before the bailout bush doubled our deficit and no outrage by the gop. they also forget history we passed tax laws in 1916 because of the robber barons and eisenhower in 57 didnt support tax cuts for the rich . the rate then was 91% on 400k. what they dont mention is that many of our corporations pay no tax because they tool the system
