wealth
Capitalist and proud of it asked:

No matter how many laws congress and the President pass, over time the U.S. wealth always ends up in the top 2% of citizen’s bank accounts. Can anyone tell me why this happens time and time again?

What's another $1.6 Trillion on 6 July, 2010 at 6:40 pm #

Because 2% of the population knows what money is and how to make it.

Wealth tends to create wealth, and those rich people tend to either horde wealth or do business, either way getting richer.

Because those are the imaginative, the productive, the risk takers. They are the people that will instead of earning $ 50 000 a year year over year over year, will take $ 50 000 and turn it into Microsoft or Dell over 20 years.

Plus, once you have made money and have a certain amount, it is much easier to make more. They say earning your first million is the hardest, after that it gets easy.

Because 90% of people are weak and uninformed, if not just plain stupid, and allow themselves to be duped and manipulated by a well-connected few.

because that 2% are the ones who come up with an idea they believe in, are willing to invest their time, money and effort to see it to fruition and therefore deserve to reap the benefits. they are also the ones that create jobs for others who then become jealous when they see what the owner has and wants to see the govt. tax them higher rates so that the owner moves his company to another country which provides cheaper labor and fewer restrictions which then enables them to become even wealthier. oh yeah, and the worker who wanted the govt. to raise his boss’s taxes so he could get his fair share is now out of work.

There are many reasons why so few have so much. I believe that the answer to that rests with what happen 300 years ago. In the beginning when the United States was in it’s infancy, we took from the Indians all that there was. We took their land and all the resources. Timber, fur, gold and silver oil etc. We then enslaved the blacks to do the work. When slavery ended, we opened our borders to millions of immigrants that were forced to work for little or nothing, much the same as it is today. Most legislation that has been passed thru out our history was drafted to protect the rich. Whether it be strip mining or unregulated cutting of timber or the discharge of pollutants into the air or water, union busting, safe work environments etc. Granted, we have passed some laws that have helped the poor and disenfranchised, but the damage was done long ago and there is little that can be done over night. Old money is never spent. It’s reinvested. I know that many will say hard work is how you get ahead and create wealth. There are some that have worked hard for it. But most of the wealth was created long ago. That wealth was passed on to their children who then got a good education etc, and created more wealth. Any honest wealthy person will tell you that. I’m not black nor an indian and i’m not poor. Hope I helped answer your question.

B ecause there is only so much room at the top and they do what it takes to keep those few on top. They have the power and they know how to use it. Cash is king, eh?
